Objectives & Expected Level Of Play By Division
10U Mavericks
Players in this division are usually new to the game of lacrosse and are in Grades 3 & 4, though we accept players from Grades 1 & 2 as well. The Spring 10U Team will practice 1-2 times a week, and play 5-6 games during the season, as well as a couple of local tournaments. They will also play in two local tournaments in June. There is no body checks allowed at this level.
12U Mavericks
Most of the players in this division have experience in lacrosse, though some are new to the game. Players are 5th & 6th Graders. Players continue to develop their stick skills at this level, and they become introduced on how to run offense and defensive schemes. These teams will compete in the Michigan Lacrosse League and compete for a League Championship. They will play 10-12 games with 3 tournaments in the spring, and 2-3 tournaments in the summer.
14U Mavericks Blue
Most of the players in this division have experience in lacrosse, though some are new to the game. Players are mostly 7th Graders, with a few developing 8th Graders. Players continue to develop their stick skills at this level, and they develop their lacrosse IQ on how to run offense and defensive schemes. These teams will compete in the Michigan Lacrosse League and compete for a League Championship. They will play 10-12 games with 3 tournaments in the spring, and 2-3 tournaments in the summer.
14U Mavericks Orange
The 14U Orange team is one of our original teams, with several players being part of Mavericks for 4+ years. They are mostly 8th Graders, and will play most of the other top teams of their age group. Last Summer, this team won the Baltimore Summer Sizzle tournament against some of the best players in the country. This is one of the winningest teams in the Michigan Maverick organization.
Mavericks Rising Stars
The 2020/2019 Maverick Rising Stars team is made up of HS Freshman and Sophomores, that mostly played JV the previous season with their HS teams. They are attending Luck of the Draw, Lax-n-Nati, and University of Michigan Team tournament "Wolverine War". This is for players that are looking to get exposure to college coaches, as well as get some of the best coaching in the state from current and former college players.
Mavericks Elite
The Michigan Maverick 2018/2019 Elite Team has been our premiere team for the past 4 years. Last year's Elite Team finished 4th in the country, and was coached by current college coaches. They finished 4th at Gait Cup, and four of our players made the All-Star Game. Every player on that team is being or was recruited by at least 2 colleges. One player made the Under Armour All-American team, and we had four 1st Team All-State players on the roster, as well as five 2nd Team All-State, and a few honorable mentions. This upcoming summer we have the current Madonna University Head Coach, Mike Walter, leading the helm. This team will be going to the recruiting tournaments Luck of the Draw, Lax-n-Nati, and the Wolverine War at University of Michigan.
